It’s time to say goodbye to 2014 and welcome a new year filled with new K-pop releases. I’ve managed to gather all my favorite songs from 2014 together and made a list of 25 songs I’ve enjoyed listening in 2014. I hope you’ll like and since the list is long let’s start~
25. Super Junior – This is Love
Super Junior was one of the first groups I had known from the beginning and this song suits them. I’m not a huge fan of SM Entertainment and the way they treat their artists and to be honest I would prefer I could avoid them but I guess the Scandinavian produced tunes makes me go back and listen to their songs… OMG Heechul you should get over your long-hair fetish… You look much better short haired! Just Say’in~
24. RAIN – 30 Sexy
The return of Rain… And yes I’ve missed him! Every time I listen to Rain I remember how much my teacher laughed when he first watched his MV to Love Song. However I’ve been listening to 30 Sexy like Crazy when I was in Korea and it was played everywhere not to mention LA Song which is another successful song from this album~ But I have to admit that the kiss mark on his chin is rather awkward.
23. Girls Generation – Mr.Mr.
This is freaking HISTORY (with big words). I don’t know what happened but I’ve started to like Girls Generation… I’m surprised myself to the point that I’m questioning why but I guess hanging out with GG fans made me listen to them more and of course their songs are catchy~ Here comes Mr.Mr.
22. Wheesung – Night & Day
Me and my roommate loved this song when we were in Korea. We constantly watched the music video and the song just stayed along because of the MV. Well I guess I only need to say C.A.P (TeenTop) and you guys will understand the reason right? The song is really catchy as well so this needed to go into my best of list~
21. Beast – Good Luck
I think somehow Good Luck just stayed with me because of my roommate. However Beast released new songs in the last months of the year but I still like Good Luck better than 12:30.
20. Infinite – Back
I miss the old Infinite and definitely their old songs… Destiny, Man in Love, BTD and Chaser… 2014 was simply not the year of Infinite! I guess the whole Woollim and SM thing really ruined the productivity and ruined the “Infinite Sound”. Infinite once had a distinctive style which is now turned into something more mainstream. However I still love their vocals and how they manages to turn SungJong into a manly figure in the MV (Seriously I always call him the girl since I forget his name all the time). I hope Infinite soon returns to their old self…
19. EXO – Overdose
I’ve heard better EXO songs and Overdose is not their best but I still like it. Another sad thing that occurred in 2014 was the leave of Kris and Luhan which once again showed us hot poorly SM is treating their artists. To be honest I was pretty sure that EXO was steadily moving to take the spot of TVXQ with their success but once again SM ruined everything. However I’m going to miss Luhan like crazy…
18. CNBLUE – Can’t Stop
This song is so cute… In many ways and we sung it once or twice at norebang (karaoke rooms). Yonghwa is definitely a cutie but he keeps on reminding me of my cousin and he’s definitely not Korean so I don’t know how I liked those two. Anyways if you guys don’t know my bias from CNBLUE is Jonghyun~
17. B1A4 – Lonely
Me and my roommates used so many hours to try to learn the dance of this song. However we managed to ruin it every time so gave up in the end. Another really good song from B1A4 and I completely got crazy with their album design! CNU why you so cute? (Being an obvious fangirl).
16. B.A.P – 1004 (Angel)
Can I seriously marry Bang Yongguk? Back to the song! Another powerful song from B.A.P and I love their dances! As most of you know B.A.P filed a lawsuit against their company to nullify their contract due to unfair conditions. Let’s hope for the best for B.A.P! The group is currently on Hiatus.
15. 4 Minute – Whatcha Doin’ Today
What’s happening to me? I took girl groups into my list? Not even 1 but 2? Well credits for 4 Minute for this song and I finally started to like Hyuna but still not such a huge fan of the image they put up for her. However this song was played everywhere in Korea when it was released.
14. Cross Gene – Amazing Bad Lady
I’m not going to talk about the dance… I don’t really care to be honest since I listen to the song more than I watch the MV (This goes for almost all songs I listen to!). I like this song and it somehow reminds me of a really good song I used to listen to before.
13. M.I.B – Chisa Bounce
I just… Do I need to explain? Seriously?
12. Ji Yeon (T-ara) – 1 Minute 1 Second
I seriously don’t care about T-ara and their past… I just like this song and I always remember his me and Sunny danced to this song (only the never ever part). Anyways really catchy song!
11.Teen Top – Missing
When I first listened to this song I was like… Not not really that good… Then I listened second time and I was like… Well sound better than first time… I decided to listen for the third time and gave up I was really captured by this song… I like the chorus a lot and I’ve realized that I kept on singing this song around the time it was released~ C.A.P I still think you should get some more tattoos…
10. M.Pire – Rumor
A bunch of cute fellows… Cute song… Catchy and I remember how it took me two minutes to brainwash my roommate with this song… Sorry but I really had my “M.Pire Period” and I still love these guys for their love and respect for JYJ. Well done guys well done!
9. 2PM – Go Crazy
I like songs with a huge value of entertainment in it… Go Crazy is a really good example but somehow I ended up distancing myself from 2PM and I guess it just happened over the months but I still like them! JunK you are still my favorite and that voice of yours makes me come back to 2PM again and again~
8. BTOB – 뛰뛰빵빵 (Beep Beep)
I was turned into a BTOB fan thanks to another fan… Did you know that I always buy their albums and I have all of their korean albums? However the best of their releases in 2014 and they’ve released a lot of good songs this year so it has been really hard to choose between them. I especially like the dance of this song~
7. U-kiss – Quit Playing
O… M… to the G… I’ve liked U-kiss for a long time but they’ve need managed to make it this high on my lists before. This song is just… SO GOOD! I remember I had it on replay for weeks after it’s release and I have to admit it took me some days to figure out the music video but better late than never right?
6. Girl’s Day – Something
Another girl group on the list? No? Really? Wow I seriously broke all my own records about girl groups but I’ve also started to listen to them more. However Something was played everywhere and I just kept on listening to it even more after I came back to Denmark. I just don’t like the dance but nothing is perfect right?
5. BTS – Boy in Luv
So finally arrived to TOP 5! Here we got the amazing Bangtan Boys and just in case you guys don’t know these guys are so close to being my little bro if I had one… Jimin I hate you for being that young and when this is said I only see you as a little bro everything except that would be a crime I think… Anyways Rap Monster never put sunglasses ever again! Your eyes are so pretty~ Another song we ruined at norebang but damn it’s so hard to sing this!
4. Taeyang – Eyes, Noes, Lips
I think Taeyang is the only YG artist on my list. I just like this song so much for being so much Taeyang’s style and I wish he wasn’t forced to do these other GD-like songs. I absolutely miss his first album so I can only hope for him to go back to his old style again~
3. JYJ – Back Seat
My boys are BAAACK! You guys are asking why I put them as number 3? Well I was a bit disappointed when I heard the whole album. I realized that they didn’t do anything special compared to the long break they had without any album release and I was simply expecting more. Another factor is that my biggest dream was to see them on stage in Korea but they decided to set their concert date 15 days after my departure so I was simply pissed! Anyways I still love them~
2. Nell – Four Times Around the Sun
This song is magical… From the moment I heard this song and ever time I hear this song I feel like going back to Seoul and it makes me remember all the priceless memories I shared with people on the streets of Seoul. I miss Seoul… I miss Korea…
1. VIXX – Error
Finally to my number one! Ever since the moment I heard this song it’s with me everywhere and I’m so happy that I finally and fully is turned into a VIXX fan now I just need to buy the rest of the albums… Well thanks to Leo I became a fan and this song and MV proves that VIXX never failed to entertain! I hope they’ll become even more successful in the future and hopefully I can become an official fan~
Hours of putting this post together made me realize how much I actually listen to K-pop on daily base. My list was even longer but I had to leave out some names. I hope you like my version of “Best of 2014″ and comment if you disagree or think that I’ve forgotten some great songs that you think is in your TOP 25~
